Hunt Season:

The New Zealand hunting season is from March to the end of August. The best time to hunt Red Stag, Wapiti (Elk) and Fallow is during the roar, which is March through to the end of May.

Types of Hunts:

We offer both “Free & Wild” hunts and “Game Ranch” hunts. If you wish to hunt “Free & Wild” I would advise that you budget on 5 days hunting minimum. This type of hunting requires a good level of fitness.

Access to remote areas that we hunt is either by Helicopter or 4WD.

“Game Ranch” hunts can be completed in 3 days for a single species. If you wish to take additional species allow 5 days. Hunters of all ages and fitness levels can take these hunts.

Travel & General Information:

The nearest international airport to Glencree Lodge is Christchurch, which is only a 2 hours drive away. We will meet you and transport you in a comfortable 4 wheel drive to our hunting lodge. Non hunting companions are also very welcome and catered for. The choice of sightseeing, whale watching, coastal walks and of course, Trophy shopping are all available.
